TubeManager
Privacy Policy
TubeManager is a Chrome extension that lets you save, tag, and timestamp YouTube videos, hide feed distractions with an AI Focus Mode, set reminders, and optionally sync across your devices. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and why. We keep it simple: your data is yours, it is used only to make the extension work, and it is never sold.
1. What data the extension handles
Stored on your device (Chrome local storage):
- Videos you choose to save — title, URL, thumbnail, plus any tags, collections, timestamps, notes, and related links you add to them.
- Reminders you create.
- Your settings (Focus Mode preferences, theme).
- Aggregate counts shown on the Stats screen (for example, how many videos Focus Mode kept out of your feed).
If you choose to sign in with Google (optional), we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to identify your account, and store a Firebase user ID.
If you enable AI categorization, we store the Google Gemini API key you provide.
2. How your data is stored and synced
By default, everything above stays in your browser's local storage and is not sent anywhere. The extension works fully without signing in.
If you choose to sign in with Google, your saved videos, collections, timestamps, reminders, settings, and your Gemini API key are synced to Google Firebase (Realtime Database) under your own private account, so they stay consistent across your devices.
3. Third-party services
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database) — used only to sign you in and sync your data when you choose to. Your synced data is stored under your own account.
- Google Gemini (Generative Language API) — used only if you provide your own Gemini API key. When enabled, the titles of videos in your feed are sent to Google's Gemini API to sort them into categories (such as Education or Music) for Focus Mode. Only titles are sent, not your identity, and requests use the API key you supplied.
These providers process data under Google's own privacy terms.
4. How we use your data
Your data is used solely to provide the extension's features: saving and organizing videos, showing timestamps, filtering your feed, sending reminders, showing stats, and syncing across your devices. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not transfer it to third parties except the service providers listed above (Firebase, Gemini), strictly to deliver the features you use.
6. Your choices and control
- Use the extension fully without signing in — your data stays local.
- Sign out at any time; your local data stays on your device until you remove it.
- Delete individual saved videos, collections, timestamps, and reminders, or use Reset to clear data (which also clears the synced copy in your account).
- Remove your Gemini API key at any time to turn off AI categorization.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its local data from your browser.
7. Data retention
Local data remains until you delete it or uninstall the extension. Synced data remains in your account until you delete it (for example, via Reset) or remove it.
8. Security
Data synced to Firebase is protected by Google sign-in and database rules that restrict access to your own account.
9. Children
TubeManager is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
